Early Childhood and Educational Settings
Self -Regulation and Executive Function Skills in the Classroom
This three hour training will help educators and school support staff identify arousal states in the behaviors that they observe and learn to intervene with sensory motor and non-verbal techniques. Participants will be introduced to the concept of predictable programming and predictable environments that help maximize outcomes for students when offering sensory motor intervention. This workshop will offer an experiential component so that participants may better appreciate verbal and non-verbal interventions with students.
Introduction to Mindfulness for School Staff
This three hour training is educational, restorative and offers opportunities for experiential learning. The goal of this workshop is to help prevent burnout and support staff in maintaining a passion for their work. This training will introduce school staff to the field of modern mindfulness and how it can help to mitigate daily stress and increase an overall sense of wellbeing. Participants will examine the role and impact of daily stress and complete an individualized self-care assessment. We will also discuss neuroplasticity and the pivotal role that mindfulness plays in training our brains to focus on the here and the now. Participants will be led thru fundamental experiential based mindfulness exercises that will provide them with new stress management and self-care strategies that they can easily begin to incorporate into their daily lives.
Incorporating Mindfulness into the Classroom
This three hour training is available for both Pre K- 7th grade staff and for 8-12th grade staff. Throughout this training, staff will become familiar with the field of modern mindfulness. We will discuss neuroplasticity and the developing brain, the role and the impact of stress in the lives of students and the ways in which mindfulness can help teach students to truly focus, attend and self-regulate. We will both discuss and practice together multiple mindfulness techniques that can easily be incorporated into the classroom setting and into the work that staff do with students throughout the school day.

Caregivers and Clinicians
Complex Trauma 101
This three hour training is offered to school personnel, foster parents, social workers, and others who work with traumatized youth. Complex trauma occurs when a child has experienced multiple trauma exposures, oftentimes by the hands of those the child trusts and depends upon. The impact of this trauma can be severe and especially difficult for caregivers to manage. This training will provide an overview of complex trauma and cover the significant and various impairments that can occur as a result. Case examples will also be explored.
The Balancing Act: Self-Care for the Helping Professional
This three hour training is designed for those in helping professions. This workshop is both educational as well as restorative and will provide ample opportunities for experiential learning. Every helping professional needs and deserves to establish consistent routines of self-care to thoughtfully manage stress, burnout and vicarious trauma exposures. In this training we will look closely at stress, how it manifests itself in the body and mind and how incorporating mindfulness into daily life can help to increase overall wellbeing. Each participant will complete an individual self-care assessment and identify areas of growth. Participants will be led thru multiple experiential mindfulness exercises that are intended to be easily incorporated into daily life.

Caring for Youth Impacted by Trauma: Strategies and Support for Substitute Caregivers.
This training has been created for substitute care providers (foster parents; kinship care; legal guardians) and is designed to provide both an increased understanding of the impact of trauma on children, as well as an increased awareness about the ways in which trauma impacts the caregiver. The presenter will talk about trauma-related behavior in the home, school and community settings and will provide examples of healthy, developmentally-appropriate caregiver responses. Participants will be encouraged to share personal challenges and to work collaboratively in the training to identify strategies and interventions to utilize in the home. Recognizing that substitute caregivers can sometimes feel overwhelmed, the presenter will work with participants to create an effective Self-Care plan.
Caregivers Need Care Too: Mindful Parenting for Parents & Caregivers
Parenting and care giving is both a rewarding and stressful experience that stretches us in so many ways that can leave us feeling spread thin and overwhelmed. Often our entire focus and energy is directed toward meeting the needs of others and, as a result, our own self-care and wellness is low on the priority list. In this workshop, we will explore the role of stress in our lives and the physiological and psychological effects stress has on us. Participants will be introduced to the concept of stress management and self-care thru a variety of easy to use mindfulness and relaxation techniques. Participants will have opportunities to practice new skills and will be led thru a number of experiential exercises. Participants will leave with easy and practical ways to begin incorporating mindfulness into their daily lives. These new skills will help participants more effectively balance caring for others while also caring for themselves. These skills will help caregivers to better manage daily stressors and increase their ability to be in the present moment and enjoy an improved sense of overall peace and wellbeing.
Mindful Beginnings: Mindfulness for the Mother to Be
This workshop is designed for the expectant mother as they prepare for the birth of their child and for becoming a new mom. While pregnancy can be a time of great joy, it can also be a time of many unknowns. Mindfulness can help support mothers to be as they adjust to the changes that are such a normal part of pregnancy. Mindfulness can also help mothers to be in preparing mentally and physically for the transforming experience of childbirth and with navigating and coping with the joys, stressors and challenges of early parenthood. Together, in a supportive environment, we will discuss a variety of stressors and challenges related to pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting. We will also explore self-care and thoughtfully identify areas in which need attention. Participants will be guided through mindfulness exercises and relaxation techniques that can be easily be sprinkled throughout the day to help manage stressors and create a stronger sense of self-acceptance, relaxation and wellbeing. These skills are intended to be used during pregnancy, childbirth and during the transition into early parenthood.
