Art Therapy Services
Art Therapy is for individuals ages one year through adult in need of mental health assessment and/or treatment. Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that is used to recover from traumatic experiences and manage major mental health problems. A range of materials are made available to meet the needs of clients who may or may not be comfortable using art media. These include but are not limited to: drawing, painting, sculpture, puppetry, stories in book and digital formats, writing, collage, clay, print making and photography. Individuals and families are encouraged to schedule an initial consultation to help those interested decide if this therapeutic service is the right match.
Individuals may use a wide range of creative arts media and play in establishing a therapeutic rapport, identifying goals and establishing routines. Clients will know quickly if they wish to commit to ongoing work in addressing life transitions, traumatic events, stressful occupational or family circumstances that result in problems managing anxiety, depression, safe relationships and healthy expression of feelings through verbal and non-verbal communication.
Medical Art Therapy
Children, youth and adults preparing or coping with medical intervention may use art therapy services to prepare, cope and mitigate and negative impact on developmental progress through therapeutic sessions.
